Black Bear Family Enjoys Dinner Time at Unoccupied Home They've Made Their Own

A black bear family enjoyed dinner time in front of an empty house in South Lake Tahoe, California on March 27.

Stefan Sielsch captured a video which shows a South Lake Tahoe black bear, Black Betty, feeding her three cubs.

Sielsch, who also goes by the name of Toogee, posted the footage to his YouTube Channel.

In his caption, Sielsch wrote that Betty made a den under an unoccupied house and the homeowner had asked him to keep an eye on the bear and her family.

Sielsch told Storyful that in the mountain towns of Sierra and the Rockies, urbanized black bears had become a new phenomenon in the last 10 -15 years.

“The long term physiological effects of this black bear urbanization and how it will affect the overall long term health of those bears is yet to be learned,” Sielsch said. Credit: Stefan Sielsch via Storyful
