Black Fire Containment Increases Despite High Winds in Gila National Forest

Containment of the Black Fire burning in New Mexico’s Gila National Forest increased on Monday, May 30, despite high winds and low relative humidity, officials said.

As of Monday morning, the fire had burned 241,403 acres (377.1 sq miles) and was 26 percent contained, up from 19 percent containment the previous day, according to official information. The fire was human-caused and remained under investigation, the US Forest Service said.
