Black Friday To Be Biggest Online Shopping Day In UK History, Boosted By Gadget Sales

Black Friday sales figures are nearing the £1bn mark which would make it the biggest online shopping day in U.K history, with gadgets proving to be most popular.

According to Argos, it has seen more than 2.5 million visits to its website so far with numbers continuing to grow. The most popular deals include discounts on iPads, PS4 and Xbox gaming consoles and GoPro action cameras, says Press Association.

Retail giant Amazon reports that it has seen high demand for its lowest-ever priced Fire tablet, which is selling for £34.99. Other gadgets selling well on the site include a Blaupunkt 32-Inch Widescreen HD TV and the TomTom Bandit Action Camera.

Currys has also seen healthy Black Friday sales, particularly on Apple iPads, the Dyson V6 vacuum cleaner and the Samsung Ultra HD 4K 43-inch TV which is selling at £399, down from £549.

As always, TVs are selling well all round, with Tesco reporting high sales of the Digihome 49-inch LED TV, which is selling for £199, marking a substantial saving of £150.

According to very.co.uk, its most popular key word search for Black Friday so far is ‘consoles’ followed by ‘TV’. Between 7am and 12pm it sold a games console every four seconds.

AO.com says its 9am sales figures were double those from the same time on Black Friday 2014.
