‘There’s a black hole in my heart’: Katy Perry and Kaley Cuoco lead celebrity tributes to Stephen Hawking after death at 76

Stars including Katy Perry, Kaley Cuoco and David Walliams have paid tribute to Stephen Hawking, who has died at the age of 76.

Pop star Perry said there was a “black hole in my heart” following the news of the physicist’s death on Wednesday morning, while Walliams praised him for being “amongst everything else, a great laugh”.

“There’s a big black hole in my heart hours before Pi day. Rest In Peace @Steven_Hawking... See you in the next,” wrote Perry.

Walliams posted a picture from Hawking’s cameo on Little Britain, writing: “Goodbye #StephenHawking Thank you for being - amongst everything else - a great laugh.”

Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan wrote: “RIP Professor Stephen Hawking, 76. The world’s most brilliant man, and someone who never stopped wondering ‘Why?’”

He added: “This hangs on the wall outside his office at Cambridge University. It says it all. What a life, what a genius.”
