Yahoo News Black Panther 2's Ruth Carter makes Oscar history with second win
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the second Marvel Cinematic Universe film to win an Oscar.
After the first film took home three Academy Award statues in 2019, the superhero sequel nabbed the gong for Best Costume Design this year.
The award didn't just make history for the MCU. Costume designer Ruth Carter won the same award for the first film, meaning she is the first Black woman to win two Oscars.

In her acceptance speech, Carter said: "Thank you to the Academy for recognising the superhero that is a Black woman. She endures, she loves, she overcomes, she is every woman in this film. She is my mother.
"This past week, Mable Carter became an ancestor. This film prepared me for this moment. Chadwick, please take care of Mom... This is for my mother. She was 101."
As well as paying tribute to her mother and mentioning the late Chadwick Boseman, Carter also thanked director Ryan Coogler, MCU boss Kevin Feige and producers Nate Moore, Victoria Alonso and Louis D'Esposito.
She dedicated the award to all the artists who helped her craft the film's outfits.
As well as her work on the Black Panther films, Carter has also collaborated with Spike Lee on multiple projects.

Everything Everywhere All At Once dominated the awards ceremony last night, winning Best Picture, Best Actress for Michelle Yeoh, Best Supporting Actor for Ke Huy Quan and four others.

Following the success of Wakanda Forever, a third Black Panther movie seems pretty likely. However, star Letitia Wright recently stated that it's not a definite thing yet, and it would be quite a while away even if it was given the go-ahead.
