Yahoo News Black Widow Scarlett Johansson reacts to Angelina Jolie joining the MCU
Avengers: Endgameand Black Widowstar Scarlett Johansson was the first female Avenger to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, back when it was mostly a boys club.
But now things have changed for the better, with the weekend's slew of announcements at the San Diego Comic-Con 2019 featuring a host of huge female stars – and Johansson thinks it's "amazing".
Speaking about being on stage for the announcement toE! News, ScarJo said: "It was amazing. I mean, there's a lot of women up there that I hugely admire – Angelina [Jolie], Salma [Hayek], Rachel [Weisz], Tessa [Thompson], Natalie [Portman].
"It's bananas. I think it's very exciting. I think it grounds the presence of the MCU in a way. It's very exciting to see such a diverse group of people. It's awesome. And it's about time."
Angelina Jolie and Selma Hayek were announced for Marvel's newest cosmic movie The Eternals, Rachel Weisz will be joining the Black Widowprequel movie, while Tessa Thompson and Natalie Portman will be returning for Thor: Love and Thunder, which will see Portman becoming the new God of Thunder.

Thompson's character Valkyrie will have an LGBTQ+ storyline, while Marvel Studios have made diverse hires for their Shang-Chiand Blademovies, and fans are hoping Captain Marvel 2will explore the character's sexuality too.
Black Widow will be released on May 1, 2020, while The Eternals will be released on November 6, 2020. Marvel's other movies will be released in 2021 or beyond.
