One of Lancashire’s most famous attractions has announced it will stay open longer this winter, for the fourth year running.

The Blackpool Illuminations display time has been extended over the last few years to encourage more people to visit the resort following a drop in tourism due to the Covid pandemic.

But following another dramatic rise in visitor numbers over this years’ winter months, Blackpool Council and the official Illuminations team have announced their annual display will be extended once again by two months.

A statement on the Blackpool Illuminations social media page read: “We are excited to announce that Blackpool’s annual Illuminations display will once again be extended by two months after another dramatic rise in visitor numbers over the winter months.

“The Illuminations season will start on Friday 1 September and run until Monday 1 January, 2024.”
