Blind Date contestants reunited 25 years after appearing on the show following chance tube encounter

A pair of Blind Date contestants were reunited after they met by chance on the London Underground – 25 years after appearing on the show.

Howard Griffiths and Brigette Bard bumped into each other on the Central Line more than two decades after they first met in October 1992.

After the meeting, Howard posted a video of their encounter on Twitter, writing: “You won’t believe this! Just randomly met #Brigette who I picked on @ITV #BlindDate 26 years ago, on the #CentralLine #SmallWorld.”

Howard, who presents a shopping channel, told The Sun, he was on his way home from meeting a friend when Brigette approached him on the tube. He said: “She said, ‘you’re Howard and I’m Brigette’. I just thought ‘Oh my god’.”

Howard said he wooed Brigette by speaking Italian and Welsh to her during the show, and even spoke a few words of Italian to her on the Twitter video he posted.

The couple went on a date to Germany and spoke afterwards, but never made it to a second date, he said.

He said: “We both said ‘you haven’t changed’. It was absolutely bonkers. I am still in shock – there was a real electricity talking to each other.”

Brigette told The Sun Online: “It was the most surreal evening. We had just literally jumped on the the tube. It was a real sliding doors moment.

“I knew immediately that I recognised him but it took me a couple of seconds to realise from where.”
