Blue Ivy telling Beyonce and Jay-Z to 'calm down' at the Grammys almost broke the internet

The 2018 Grammys provided plenty of talking points, but no one stole the limelight as much as the daughter of Beyonce and Jay-Z.

Stars sent a powerful message to the #MeToo movement and #TimesUp campaign against sexual harassment and abuse, by wearing white roses, but it was one of the night’s littlest attendees that set the internet alight.

Despite heated debate over the styling of the young child, it was her actions that caught the attention of the world.

Blue Ivy, 6, made her mark on the event and became something of an online meme when she was spotted ‘shushing’ her famous parents Beyonce and Jay-Z.

In truth, it felt like more of a ‘calm down, guys’ hand gesture but suffice to say everyone was loving it. Some people couldn’t quite believe what they were seeing, either.

It appeared everyone was in awe of the couple’s eldest child, as her call for composure came during Camila Cabello’s brief speech before she introduced U2.

But it appears Blue Ivy was having none of their mid-speech applause…

The shush or sassy hand gesture – whatever you want to call it – went down a storm on Twitter. Everyone loved how Blue Ivy appeared to be calling the shots and telling her parents how to behave.

Ahead of the star-studded event, Jay-Z was nominated for the most awards but walked away empty-handed.

It was Bruno Mars and Kendrick Lamar who were the night’s biggest winners, scooping an impressive six and five awards, respectively. Mars won Record and Album of the Year, while Lamar took home gongs including Best Rap/Sung Performance and Best Rap Performance.

The 60th annual awards ceremony saw Alessia Cara win Best New Artist, as Ed Sheeran nabbed a double with Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Pop Solo Performance.

But the night quite clearly belonged to Blue Ivy, who was one, if not the, most talked about celeb at the glitzy awards bash.
