Congratulations are in order for Blue star Simon Webbe and his wife Ayshen, who are expecting a baby.

The singer and former River City star married Ayshen in 2018. Over the weekend, the couple revealed the happy news that their baby is due in April.

"It's fantastic, we feel so lucky and grateful," he told Hello! in a joint interview.

"Whenever I touch Ayshen's tummy, the baby moves, as if it knows it's me. I whisper: 'You're going to be loved so much and I can't wait to meet you.'"

Ayshen said: "We're more than ready to become parents and I couldn't be happier. Having a child is all I've ever wanted. Really soon, we'll experience that moment and I'll treasure forever the first time Simon and I gaze down at our baby."

Simon also posted the good news to Instagram on Monday (February 1), sharing a snap from their photo shoot with the accompanying caption: "So happy our news is out."

Simon's Blue bandmate Antony Costa was one of the famous faces who commented on the upload, writing: "Yes my brother congratulations to you both."

Simon is also father to his 24-year-old daughter Alanah from a previous relationship.

The happy news follows heartbreak for the couple, who experienced two miscarriages before falling pregnant a third time.

"We were devastated as we said our goodbyes," Simon said.

"Nobody talks much about miscarriage and the physical and emotional effects it has. When it happened for the second time a year later, we went through the pain again."
