Blur confirm reunion at Wembley Stadium in 2023

Blur have confirmed they are reuniting to play at London’s Wembley Stadium on 8 July 2023.

The Parklife singers - Damon Albarn, Alex James, Graham Coxon and Dave Rowntree - will perform live together for the first time since 2019.

Frontman Albarn, 54, said: “We really love playing these songs and thought it’s about time we did it again.”

Guitarist Coxon, 53, said: “I’m really looking forward to playing with my Blur brothers again and revisiting all those great songs.

Tickets go on sale on 18 November 2022

“Blur live shows are always amazing for me. A nice guitar and an amp turned right up and loads of smiling faces.”

Bassist-turned-cheese-maker James, 53, said: “There’s always something really special when the four of us get in a room. It’s nice to think that on July 8 that room will be Wembley Stadium.”

The band last toured together in 2015 and performed a surprise gig for charity Africa Express in East London in 2019.

Blur will be supported at Wembley by singer-songwriter Self Esteem, British rapper Slowthai and electro-pop duo Jockstrap.

After releasing their debut album in 1991, Blur went on to produce six UK number one albums and a string of hits including Girls & Boys, Parklife and Country House.

They won five Brit Awards, four all in 1995, and were famed for their feud with chart rivals Oasis.

Having been hailed as some of the poster boys for 90s Brit Pop, the band went their separate ways in 2000.

Coxon released several solo albums and Albarn became lead singer of animated band Gorillaz.

James moved to a farm in the Cotswolds and started producing his own cheese, while drummer Rowntree, 58, went into politics, standing as a councillor in London and later Norwich, where he was elected in 2017.

Blur's eighth studio album titled The Magic Whip was released in 2015.

Tickets for the one-off gig will go on general sale on 18 November 2022 and pre-sale registration is open now.
