BMW driver suffers suspected broken hand as car smashes into railings

Police say a motorist who smashed into railings may have broken her hand. Officers and paramedics were called out to Hartshill Road, in Hartshill, yesterday morning following reports of a collision.

As reported by StokeonTrentLive a set of railings near to the Palmers Green junction were ripped from the ground while a cycle lane sign was also knocked off. Police taped off part of pavements. Today Staffordshire Police have confirmed cops were sent to the scene just after 10.10am to reports a car had hit the railings.

The driver was checked over by paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service - and advised to go to A&E.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "Officers attended and a black BMW Xdrive Sport was found involved in a collision with railings. The driver and sole occupant, a woman in her 30s, was checked over by paramedics and advised to attend A&E due to a suspected broken hand. Highways were informed due to debris on the road. The car was recovered from the scene."
