Newham is set to see a board game café pop right next to the West Ham FC stadium. Draughts, which first launched in 2014, currently has two sites in London in Waterloo and Hackney, with more than 1,000 board games per venue. Now a third venue is coming to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park this spring.

The game joint is 4,110 square feet, with 3,540 internally and 570 square feet externally, making an ideal spot for intimate gatherings and lively social events. Draughts say they are one of London’s "original competitive socialising venues" ideal for concept bar lovers.

Guests can unwind on the covered terrace, which will offer great views overlooking West Ham’s London Stadium as well as the Waterworks River.

The venue features ample seating with room for over 150 guests indoors, spread across two floors, and over available outside.

Draughts founder Nick Curci said. "We are thrilled to introduce our third venue to the vibrant Park and East Bank community, and we are committed to providing an exceptional experience for all our guests," remarked Nick. "Looking ahead, we are excited to explore new avenues for expansion and innovation, ensuring that DRAUGHTS remains a leading player in the board game and hospitality industry.

“Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park was the standout location for our latest venue, offering both bustling neighbourhood trade and high visitor numbers as part of its destination status. Add in the comprehensive events calendar at the London Stadium and East Bank, and it makes a compelling business case.”

The Waterloo venue is hugely popular with punters. One happy customer wrote: “I went to Draughts with a friend who is a board game fanatic. We had such a fun time, the library of games is thorough and really cared for.

“There’s also a menu of delicious looking food (we didn’t have any, but the servings looked yummy!) and drinks - we had the lychee martini which was lovely.”
