Boat, Airplane Pushed Onto Roadways in Freeport by Hurricane Dorian

Hurricane Dorian left a boat blocking a road near the Grand Lucayan Waterway in Freeport, and an airplane resting on a roadside at the Grand Bahama International Airport, a video surveying damage by the Category 5 hurricane shows.

Footage sent directly to Storyful by Iram Lewis, a member of parliament and secretary in the Ministry of Public Works in the Bahamas, on September 4. “This is at the airport and this is not an airplane crash,” Lewis says as the video shows the plane lying on the side of the road.

Other clips show building materials and debris scattered on the ground, and extensive damage to buildings.

Dorian made landfall in the Bahamas on Sunday, September 1, causing major flooding and catastrophic damage.

On September 2, Lewis said the airport was evacuated but his team had remained on the ground for a time, filmingfootage of the flooding. They were later evacuated as well, as conditions became more dangerous.

The US Coast Guard said it was supporting the Bahamian National Emergency Management Agency and the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, which are leading search and rescue efforts.
