Boats sounded their sirens and people cheered as the container ship blocking the Suez Canal in Egypt was freed and refloated on Monday, March 29.
The Suez Canal Authority announced on Monday that the container ship blocking the canal had been refloated. The ship became wedged across the crucial waterway on March 23, disrupting global shipping for several days.
The ship, the Ever Given, was bound for the “Bitter Lakes waiting area for technical inspection,” the authority said.
