The younger brother of shamed film producer Harvey Weinstein has been accused of sexually harassing a crew member of one of his television series, repeatedly attempting to persuade her to go out with him despite her repeated refusals.

Amanda Segel, who worked on The Mist, claimed in an interview with Variety magazine that the harassment began in the summer of 2016, when he asked her out for dinner.

She said she was told by colleagues that he had asked whether she was single, and during the dinner he inquired about her age - telling her he didn't want to date anyone younger than his daughter.

An invite to a party at his home turned out to be just the two of them - she did not attend when she learnt, she said.

The 62-year-old continued to ask Miss Segel out to dinner, joking at times that he was her boss and could fire her if she didn’t agree, she claimed.

Miss Segel agreed to another dinner with him in which she was accompanied by the show's executive producer and writer, Christian Torpe - something which she alleges Weinstein was clearly unhappy about.

She said the repeated overtures from Bob Weinstein continued on and off for about three months, until her lawyer informed The Weinstein Company executives that she would leave the show if he did not stop contacting her on personal matters.

“'No’ should be enough,” she told Variety. “After ‘no,’ anybody who has asked you out should just move on.

"Bob kept referring to me that he wanted to have a friendship. He didn’t want a friendship. He wanted more than that.

"My hope is that ‘no’ is enough from now on."

Weinstein denied any improper behaviour.

“Bob Weinstein had dinner with Ms Segel in LA in June 2016," his lawyers said in a statement to Variety.

"He denies any claims that he behaved inappropriately at or after the dinner. It is most unfortunate that any such claim has been made."

Miss Segel's accusations cames as Bob Weinstein's older brother resigned from the board of the company they founded in 2005.

Harvey Weinstein, 65, was on Tuesday in rehab in Arizona, but dialled in to a meeting of The Weinstein Company board in Los Angeles. He was represented by his lawyer, Patricia Glaser.

He was fired from the company on October 8, but retained his seat on the board until Tuesday.

It was unclear whether he would contest his removal from the company.

Bob Weinstein last week described his brother as a “sick and depraved” bully, and said Harvey Weinstein showed no remorse for his actions.

And Harvey Weinstein was, according to TMZ, remaining confident that he could rebuild his shattered reputation and return to work in Hollywood.

But the list of women accusing him was growing.

The agent of Aishwarya Rai, the Bollywood superstar and former Miss World, told how Harvey Weinstein attempted to get Rai on her own with him in the 2000s.

Simone Sheffield then chaperoned Rai, saying “I would not even let him breathe in her direction”. After the meeting, in New York, she sent a pig trough full of Diet Coke to Weinstein’s office, for the “fat ------- pig that he was”.

Weinstein’s office, though, “missed the irony,” Sheffield said, and thanked her in earnest for the drinks.

And Weinstein’s shame was spreading across the industry.

Jennifer Lawrence told Elle Magazine’s Women in Hollywood awards on Monday night that she, in the early days of her career, “was told by producers of a film to lose 15 pounds in two weeks,” revealing another actress before her had already been fired for not losing the weight fast enough.

“During this time a female producer had me do a nude line-up with about five women who were much, much, thinner than me. We are stood side-by-side with only tape on covering our privates,” she said.

“After that degrading and humiliating line-up, the female producer told me I should use the naked photos of myself as inspiration for my diet.”

Lawrence said she tried to stand up for herself and told another producer she thought the weight loss demands were not appropriate.

“He said he didn’t know why everyone thought I was so fat, he thought I was ‘perfectly ----able.'”

Reese Witherspoon spoke out at the event on Monday night

At the same event Reese Witherspoon told how she was sexually assaulted as a 16 year old, and earlier on Monday Ugly Betty star America Ferrera revealed on Instagram that she was abused at the age of nine.

Heather Ross, a writer, told a radio station how a film producer had pinned her down against a car after what she thought was a business meeting. When she told her friend Carrie Fisher, the Star Wars actress took matters into her own hands – delivering a Tiffany box to the producer’s office.

“I asked her what was inside and she said: ‘It was a cow tongue from Jerry’s Famous Deli in Westwood with a note that said, ‘If you ever touch my darling Heather or any other woman again, the next delivery will be something of yours in a much smaller box.’”
