Derby County are offering former Liverpool striker Bobby Duncan a surprise return to English football.

The 19 year old cousin of Steven Gerrard, Duncan left Liverpool for Fiorentina in acrimonious circumstances last year, but Derby are close to agreeing a fee with the Serie A club for the teenager.

Duncan's exit from Liverpool angered the Anfield hierarchy after his former agent, Saif Rubie, issued a statement accusing the club of "damaging his mental health".

Liverpool denied the claims and Duncan's move to Italy has not worked out, with the forward failing to make a senior first-team appearance for Fiorentina.

Derby have now moved for the former Manchester City youngster and hope to conclude a deal in the next few days. It is understood that Duncan is now in England to try and conclude the deal.

Though it is expected Duncan will be a signing for Derby's under-23s, he could also be in contention for a place in Phillip Cocu's squad if he impresses.

Derby are also signing former Liverpool and Bournemouth winger Jordon Ibe, who is having a medical at the club's training ground on Monday.

Ibe is a free agent after leaving Bournemouth and returns to the Championship club for the first time since a successful loan spell in the 2014/15 season.
