Bobby Moore remembered as West Ham reveal tribute to mark the 25th anniversary of England legend’s death

West Ham will unveil a commemorative mural at London Stadium marking the 25th Anniversary of club legend Bobby Moore’s death.

The former West Ham and England captain, who led the club to FA Cup and Uefa Cup Winners’ Cup glory before lifting the World Cup with the Three Lions in 1966, lost his battle with bowel cancer on February 24 1993, aged 51.

On Saturday morning, the club will unveil the mural, containing quotes from another Hammers legend, Ron Greenwood, and Brazilian star, Pele on the outer wall of the stadium.

In addition to the mural, fans from Saturday will from be able to visit a memorabilia exhibition in the club shop, containing artefacts from his long playing career.

Fans visiting the exhibition will be able to see the shirt worn by Moore on his West Ham debut against Manchester United in 1958, his 1964 FA Cup and 1965 European Cup Winners’ Cup medals, his World Cup finals cap and a replica of his winners’ medal from 1966, alongside a number of other individual awards, honours and memorabilia from a prestigious career as well as a newly commissioned bronze statue of the Barking-born defender.

Those travelling to Anfield to support David Moyes’ side as they take on Liverpool will also be invited to take part in paying tribute to their hero. Each fan will find a one-off commemorative t-shirt on their seat in the away end to wear throughout the game.
