Body found in Bromley field sparks investigation

Detectives are investigating after a dead body was found in a field in south London.

The grim discovery was made by members of the public on Saltbox Hill, Bromley.

Forensics officers have been on the scene since the body was found at 4.20pm on Sunday.

Police have thrown a cordon around the scene as the investigation continues.

Officers are working to identify the deceased and inform their next of kin.

The age and gender of the deceased has not yet been confirmed.

The Metropolitan Police said the death is being treated as unexplained and a report is being prepared for the coroner.

There have been no arrests and inquiries are ongoing.
