Body found in police search for missing mum

The body of a woman who went missing in the early hours of Tuesday morning (November 12) has been found. Jane Burton, originally from Cheshire, was first reported as missing from Walkers Drive in Leigh, Wigan at around 2am.

A public appeal was launched by Greater Manchester Police to help find Jane on Tuesday. A large emergency services presence was reported around Pennington Flash and nearby woodland throughout Tuesday afternoon, around four miles away from where Jane had last been seen.

Police, paramedics and fire crews were at the scene. Police helicopters were also deployed, along with multiple ambulances and police vehicles, remaining at the scene throughout the afternoon, Manchester Evening News reports.

Members of the public also assisted with a search on Tuesday. A body was later tragically found on Tuesday afternoon. Further details have not yet been confirmed. Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for a comment.
