Body found on railway tracks
A person has died after being found on train tracks. Emergency services were called to St Helens Junction railway station at around 11.30pm on Tuesday, January 21 following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Paramedics attended and the person was pronounced dead at the scene. British Transport Police said the incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said two fire engines and the search and rescue team also attended the scene. Firefighters helped carry out a search of the area with police and North West Ambulance Service.
