Body found in River Leven in search for missing Renton man Liam Miller

A body has been recovered from the River Leven as police say the family of a missing man have been made aware.

Emergency services were called to the scene around 9.20am on Saturday, September 7 and made the tragic discovery.

Police say formal identification has yet to take place, but that the family of Liam Miller have been made aware.

Liam, 21, has been missing from his home in Renton since Wednesday (September 4).

Liam was last seen in the town’s Main Street around 2am, and police shared growing concerns for his welfare in a bid to track him down.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed: "Around 9.20am on Saturday, 7 September, 2024 officers discovered a body in the water in the River Leven.

"Emergency services attended and the body of a man was recovered.

"He is still to be formally identified but the family of Liam Miller, 21, who had been reported missing on Wednesday, 4 September, 2024 have been made aware.

“His death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
