Body Found In Search For Missing Kayleigh

Police searching for missing Kayleigh Haywood have discovered a body in a field in Ibstock, Leicestershire.

The 15-year-old's family was informed after the discovery on Wednesday night.

Kayleigh, from Measham, went missing last Friday after she was dropped off outside Ibstock Community College at around 6pm.

Chief Superintendent David Sandall said: "We have discovered a body in a field.

"While formal identification has yet to take place, Kayleigh's family are aware of the discovery and enquiries are continuing."

The discovery comes just hours after police released a statement from her parents.

"It is breaking our hearts and we are shedding tear after tear," the statement said.

"We love Kayleigh so much and without her our family is incomplete. A big part of our lives has gone.

"Her brothers and sisters are constantly asking for her and if anyone knows anything we beg you to come forward."

Kayleigh has been described as a "lively and fun-loving girl" in a statement from Ashby School, where she was a pupil.

"On behalf of everyone connected with Ashby School, our thoughts are with her family at this difficult time," the statement said.

"Kayleigh was a lively and fun-loving girl in her final GCSE year who had started Year 11 with a real determination to be successful.

"It would appear that this opportunity has sadly been taken away from her."

Police have been given 24 more hours to question two men, aged 27 and 28, who were arrested on suspicion of killing the teenager.
