Body found in search for missing woman, 24, last seen in taxi

A body has been found in the search for a missing young woman in Plymouth, police have confirmed. Lacey Lake, 24, was last seen leaving Stonehouse in a grey Mercedes taxi and an urgent search was launched to find her.

Now, it has been confirmed by Devon and Cornwall Police that the body of a woman has been found in Linton Close, Tamerton Foliot. Although formal identification has yet to be made, Lacey's family have been informed.

This afternoon (Tuesday, January 7), police officers were seen in the Tamerton Foliot area, after a police car on an emergency call out and a second vehicle collided in Milford Lane.

At around 1.20pm today, officers were called to reports of concern for the welfare of a woman in Linton Close. Paramedics also attended but the woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Her death is currently being treated as unexplained, although it is not believed to be suspicious.

The full police statement said: "Police searching for a missing woman from Plymouth have today, 7 January, located the body of a female.

"Officers were called around 1.20pm following concerns for the welfare of the woman in Linton Close, Tamerton Foliot. Paramedics attended but the woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"The death is being treated as unexplained although not currently believed suspicious. The family of 24-year-old Lacey Lake who was reported missing on Monday 6 January have been informed. Formal identification has yet to be carried out."
