Body found in search for mum missing from Irvine hospital

A body has been found in the search for a mum missing from an Irvine hospital.

Anne MacDonald vanished from Woodland View Hospital on Monday, June 3.

A huge search was launched by concerned loved ones and the police after the 55-year-old went missing.

However, police confirmed yesterday that a body had been found in woodland next to the Eglinton Interchange.

Officers say that formal identification has yet to take place, however the family of Anne MacDonald, who had been reported missing from Irvine, have been informed.

Cops also say that there is not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 11am on Saturday, June 8, the body of a woman was found in woodland near to the Eglington Interchange, Irvine.

"Formal identification has yet to take place, however the family of Anne MacDonald, who had been reported missing from Irvine, have been informed.

"There is not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."
