A body has been discovered in the search for missing TV doctor Michael Mosley. The presenter disappeared near a hiking trail on the Greek island of Symi earlier this week.

Drones and search dogs had been utilised as part of the search and rescue mission over the past few days. On Sunday (June 9), Greek authorities confirmed it had found a body during searches, reports the Mirror.

The discovery was made in St Michael's marina on the Greek island of Symi. Formal identification of the remains has not yet taken place, but it is believed to be Dr Mosley.

The TV doctor, recognised for his appearances on The One Show and This Morning, as well as his documentary work, was holidaying with his wife Clare at the time of his disappearance. In recent days, the search shifted to a network of caves known locally as The Abyss.

It is believed that the body was found by search personnel early on Sunday morning. It was reportedly found near a chainlink fence that separates the St Michael's resort from the nearby cave system. News of the bod's discovery was broken on BBC News by Leicestershire's Martine Croxall who has recently returned to screens following an on-air dispute with the corporation.

Aside from science, Mosley also writes a column for the Daily Mail, and has made several films covering diet and exercise. He hosted the Channel 4 programme 'Michael Mosley: Who Made Britain Fat? He was also part of BBC's series 'Trust Me, I'm A Doctor'.

Dr Mosley also advocated intermittent fasting through the 5:2 diet and The Fast 800 diet. He was a father-of-four with his wife Clare Bailey Mosley. Clare is also a doctor, author and health columnist, who wrote the recipe book Fast 800 Easy.

The couple, who have hosted theatre show tours together, recently attended the Hay Festival. It was here where Mosley presented a special edition of his Radio 4 series and podcast Just One Thing.
