The body of a missing 14-year-old boy has been pulled out of a lake at a north London beauty spot.

Police rushed to North Met Lake, off Cadmore Lane, Cheshunt after reports that a teenager had got into difficulty in the water at just before 5pm on Monday.

Witnesses said the boy went into the lake but failed to come back to the surface.

Despite a frantic search using a helicopter and specialist police divers, tragically, his body was recovered six hours later.

A Hertfordshire Police spokesman said: “Emergency Services carried out searches of the area, including the use of the police helicopter and specialist police divers.

“At just before 11pm last night a body was recovered.

“Formal identification is yet to take place, however the boy’s next of kin have been informed.”
