Body of missing man found on North Wales main line

A man's body was found on the line between Llandudno and Chester this morning, which saw all train services in North Wales halted today. Police have confirmed the death of a 48-year-old, who was reported missing overnight in Flintshire.

A missing person appeal was launched by North Wales Police after a man’s bike was found in the Rock Road area of Connah’s Quay, Deeside. Named only as Paul, he left work in the Broughton area at 8.45pm on Wednesday night (November 20) to cycle home. He was last spoken to at 9.30pm.

Searches were carried out overnight and at 9.24am today, all rail services were halted on the North Wales main line. The line since has reopened but disruption is expected to continue until at least 4pm this afternoon.

British Transport Police (BTP) is preparing to inform the coroner. A BTP spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks just after 9am today (November 21) near Connah’s Quay.

“Officers and paramedics attended and sadly a person was pronounced deceased. The incident is not thought to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.” Join the North Wales Live Whatsapp community now

Paul was described as being around 6ft tall with short grey hair. Chief Insp Simon Kneale of NWP said: “Formal identification has not yet been confirmed, but Paul’s family has been informed, and a file will be prepared for the coroner by colleagues at the British Transport Police.
