Fat Girls Traveling

“So, you’re probably thinking, Why is she calling these ladies the F word? Isn’t that rude and disrespectful? That’s the common response when I tell someone new about my travel group Fat Girls Traveling,” Richmond wrote on a recent blog post. (Photo: Fat Girls Traveling/Instagram)

This body-positive Instagram is celebrating plus-size travelers and their adventures

It often feels as if the travel-blogging world is dominated by ultra-thin women.

But it’s not just women who fit into a Zara small who are going on Instagram-worthy journeys around the world — far from it.

Which is why stylist and body-positive campaigner Annette Richmond has set up an Instagram account to show the world that fat travelers not only exist but are going on some of the most incredible trips of all.

To date, more than 900 women are members of the group she created Fat Girls Traveling.

“A self-proclaimed Fat Girl, I’m a staunch supporter of the Body Positive Movement,” Richmond writes on her blog From Annette With Love.

“Traveling is my newest obsession. I’ve visited 14 countries in the last two years.

“I’ve always wanted to see the world and until recently, I didn’t think that was possible. In October of 2017, I will be embarking on the adventure of a lifetime! I’ll be traveling through Asia for a year studying culture, fashion, and beauty.

“I am a voice for Fat Travelers.”
