A body has been recovered from the Humber Estuary nearly seven weeks after 21-year-old student Libby Squire went missing.

The University of Hull student was last seen in the early hours of February 1 at the junction of Haworth Street and Beverley Road.

A significant investigation was launched into her disappearance, with officers searching nearby playing fields and waterways.

Police said that it is too early for any identification or even to confirm the gender of the individual.

A Humberside Police said: “A body has been recovered from the Humber Estuary this afternoon, (Wednesday, 20 March), in close proximity to Grimsby Docks.

“At this stage it is too early for any identification or confirmation of gender to be made.

“Further information will be released as soon as we are in a position that we are able to do so."
