Body of young woman found in Nuneaton council hostel as resident issues plea for more help
The body of a young woman was found at a council homeless hostel in Nuneaton. The borough council has confirmed that staff and emergency services were called to Eaton House, which was formerly the council offices in Coton Road.
They found the body of a young woman, who has not been identified. It is understood that her death is not being treated as suspicious.
But it has led to a resident, who did not want to be named, to call for more support for those who live in emergency homeless accommodation. She claimed that not enough help is provided to those living in emergency accommodation.

She acknowledges that while the council faces a high demand for places to live, those living in Eaton House face 'very isolating and strict environments'.
"It is completely unacceptable that human beings are being completely ignored when their needs are not met," she told CoventryLive.
What the council said
CoventryLive put the concerns to the borough council. In a statement, a council spokesperson issued the following statement:
“In the early hours of Friday morning staff and emergency services were called to attend our homeless hostel Eaton House where tragically the body of a young resident was found deceased. Our thoughts are with the family at this sad time, and we are unable to comment further, allowing for any review of the incident by the appropriate agencies."
The spokesperson said that the local authority does facilitate onsite support to residents where a need is identified and urged anyone who needs support to contact the housing team.
The statement continued: "In general, Eaton House is one of four council hostels used to accommodate homeless households who have nowhere else to live, while we process homelessness applications to assess housing needs. Residents can stay in hostels for anything from a single night to several months, depending on the stage of their housing application, and/or the type of accommodation they need to be rehoused into.
"Though our hostels provide basic accommodation for those with a homeless need, the council does facilitate onsite support to residents where a need is identified and works directly with a range of other agencies for this, such as NHS mental health services, physical and mental health outreach services, P3, Doorway, Warwickshire County Council leaving Care team and Warwickshire County Council Family Support Services – all of which are responsible for relevant and tailored support.
"If any of our homeless households have any type of support need, for example mental health concerns then they should share this with the Housing Solutions Officer dealing with their application and/or their GP, so that relevant referrals can be made to enable support to be put in place.
"Contact with Housing Solutions can be made via 02476376406, or by emailing housingsolutions@nuneatonandbedworth.gov.uk.”
