Bodyguard actress Keeley Hawes has added to the speculation that her character Julia Montague is in fact alive.

Two episodes before the final, viewers watched in shock as Montague was killed following a bomb explosion.

However, her body was never shown and since then, fans believe that Montague survived.

Hawes was asked for her thoughts on the theory when she made an appearance on This Morning.

As Holly Willoughby agreed that a future series of Bodyguard could feature a massive twist involving Montague, the actress commented: “It’s extraordinary you can be blown up on screen and still people think it would be fine.

“I just don’t know what to say anymore,” she quipped.

As a result of Bodyguard’s success, Hawes recalled how she received a lot of attention both in the UK and abroad.

She said: “It really had [gone mad], usually when the Durrells is on people will recognise me, but I came back and it just was on another level. It was like an anxiety dream, it was my son’s birthday and we had booked to go to Thorpe Park, and walking straight into Thorpe Park I was trapped on rides of people [taking photos and videos].”

Meanwhile, Richard Madden recently revealed that he was having discussions about featuring in another series of Bodyguard.

Speaking to Digital Spy earlier this year, Madden explained: “I don’t know… we’re talking about it. [It’s] all in Jed Mercurio’s brilliant mind. So it’s up to him what happens next. I can’t wait to read it.”

“Nothing’s confirmed yet. We’re just in talks,” he added.

However, Madden did return to his role as David Budd for a one-off special for Comic Relief.
