This is the moment a bogus Amazon delivery driver was tackled to the ground after brandishing a loaded shotgun in a terrifying doorstep confrontation.

Vicente Forde, 32, was caught on a doorbell camera wearing a hi-vis jacket and holding an empty Amazon parcel as he tried to catch the homeowner off-guard.

When the man - at home with his young daughter - opened the door to the gun-toting Forde, he pounced upon the gunman and wrestled him to the ground.

At Croydon crown court this morning, Forde pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence in the incident on July 13 last year.

“This can only be met with a custodial sentence of some length”, Judge Peter Gower QC said, as he adjourned the sentencing hearing until July.

Forde was wearing black gloves, a cap, and a face mask as he arrived at the front door to the home in East Dulwich at around 9.30am.

The doorbell camera footage shows him knocking on the door before briefly waiting with the empty Amazon package which he rests on a nearby wall.

As the homeowner answers the door, Forde is seen turning away before pulling the shotgun out of his jacket and rushing forward.

But the victim, who was on the phone to a friend, is able to grab hold of the weapon and throw it under a nearby car as the two men wrestled to the ground.

The victim, who sustained a broken nose and bruising in the incident, said Forde threatened to attack him with a knife if he did not let go of the gun, delivering a series of punches and kicks as the attack unfolded.

Eventually members of the public including builders who had been working nearby arrived to help restrain and subdue Forde. Police found the firearm was loaded with two live cartridges.

Detective Constable Imran Hansraj, of the Specialist Crime Command, said: "The victim had no idea what was about to unfold when he saw what he thought was a delivery man bringing a parcel to his address. He had been home with his young daughter and was going about his business as usual when he was thrust into an incredibly frightening ordeal in which he fought for his life.

"His life was turned upside down in a split second by Forde’s actions, which were wicked and cowardly in the extreme. He was disguised and armed with a lethal weapon but the victim displayed incredibly bravery to disarm him. He was lucky that a number of members of the public took heed of his cries for help and came to his aid. They too deserve enormous recognition.

"I hope Forde will now spend a substantial amount of prison, and I am sure that London will be all the safer for it."

Forde, from Greenwich, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited. He is due to be sentenced on July 29.
