Boiling Water Instantly Freezes in Biting Minnesota Cold

Temperatures in Minnesota plunged well below freezing on Sunday, February 7, as Arctic air blasted the region.

The National Weather Service in Duluth reported temperatures as low as -12 degrees Fahrenheit (-24 Celsius) with the lowest wind chill clocking in at -53.

Graceville resident Carol Bauer showed the extent of the freezing conditions with this video. “It’s a lot of fun using boiling water in various devices such as squirt guns … and having it freeze instantly,” she told Storyful. “It always amazes me.”
