Bomb squad scrambled over 'suspicious activity' on two Chester buses

Bomb disposal experts were scrambled after 'suspicious activity' on two buses saw a city's railway and bus stations evacuated. And a huge cordon went up in Chester last night as officers swarmed the area.

Meanwhile CheshireLive reported at the time how both the railway and bus station were taped off. During the height of last night's incident, which unfolded from around 5.10pm, all rail services in and out of the city were halted 'due to a security alert at the station'.

Now Cheshire Police has confirmed after an investigation it was found there was 'nothing untoward' after the alarm had been raised over 'suspicious activity' on two buses.

A spokesperson for the force said: "At 5.09pm on Friday (November 22) police received a report of suspicious activity on two busses in Chester City Centre. One near the train station and one near the bus interchange.

"As a precaution a cordon was put in place and a number of roads were closed while we investigated the report. EOD (explosive ordnance disposal) attended with other emergency services to assist.
