Bonfire night: Leicester and Leicestershire firework displays

A host of firework displays and bonfires is set to take place across Leicester and Leicestershire this autumn. Many events are expanding beyond just fireworks to live music, funfairs, food and more.

The events even include firework displays for people who prefer a quieter experience. With events spread across the county from Market Harborough to Melton, and from Leicester city centre to Coalville, it is likely you won't have far to travel if you want to join in the fun.

Harborough Fireworks Spectacular - Friday, October 25

Kicking off the season, Market Harborough Showground will light up the sky on Friday, October 25, with its 'Fireworks Spectacular'. The event, featuring "award-winning displays" by Illusion Fireworks, will also include a roaring bonfire, funfair and refreshment stalls. Adult tickets are priced at £8.50, with children under five entering for free. Tickets can be purchased online from the Harborough Showground website or at the gate on the night.

In 2020, a drive-in fireworks display at the showground was cancelled at short notice after wild ponies were left on the showground where it was due to be held.

Fireworks Spooktacular at Leicestershire County Cricket Club - Thursday, October 31

For those seeking a Hallowe'en twist, Leicestershire County Cricket Club is hosting a "Fireworks Spooktacular" on Thursday, October 31. The event promises fairground rides, trick-or-treating, and a fireworks display by Komodo Fireworks. Gates open at 4 pm, with the main display starting at 7:30 pm.

Tickets are priced at £10 for adults and £8 for children. They can be purchased from the club's website or by calling the ticket office on 0116 283 2128.

Melton Fireworks Festival and Concert - Friday, November 1

Melton's Play Close Park will host a unique event on Friday, November 1, featuring both a sensory-friendly display and a traditional fireworks spectacular. The evening will include live performances from ABBA and Queen tribute bands, a DJ, and a bonfire.

Adult tickets are £10, children (5-15) £5, and under 5s go free. Family tickets (2 adults, 2 children) are available for £25. Purchase tickets online from the Melton Mowbray Town Estate website or from the Town Estate office.

Mallory Park Fireworks Night - Friday, November 1

Motorsport enthusiasts might prefer the Fireworks Night at Mallory Park Racing Circuit on Friday, November 1. Early bird tickets are available, with adult entry at £8 and children aged 4-13 at £6. The event runs from 5 pm to 9 pm.

Tickets can be purchased online from the Mallory Park website or at the gate on the night, subject to availability.

Broomleys Cricket Club Fireworks -Saturday, November 2

Cricket fans can join in the festivities at Broomleys Cricket Club, in Coalville, on Saturday, November 2, with gates opening at 4:30 pm and the event continuing until 9:30 pm.

Tickets are £5 for adults, £3 for children, and under 5s go free. They can be purchased at the gate on the night or in advance from the club bar.

Abbey Park Bonfire & Firework Display - Saturday, November 2

Leicester's Abbey Park will once again host the city's annual celebrations, with its annual bonfire and firework display taking place on Saturday, November 2. The family event runs from 5pm to 9pm, and promises live entertainment, a thrilling funfair, licensed bars and food stalls. There will be a quieter display suitable for children.

Early bird tickets are available until Friday, November 1, after which, prices will rise. If bought in advance, tickets cost £28 for a family of two adults and two children, and £30 for a group of four adults. Adult prices are £10 each if bought separately, and children under 16 £8 each.

On-the-day tickets can be purchased until 7pm on Saturday, November 2, at £15 for adults and £10 for children under 16. Children aged four and under can enter free.

Tickets can be purchased online from the Visit Leicester website, or in person from the De Montfort Hall ticket office.

Fireworks Festival at Leicester Racecourse - Saturday, November 2

Leicester Racecourse will host a Fireworks Festival on Saturday, November 2. The event boasts an impressive line-up including live music from Dick and Dom and the award-winning band Firefly, alongside two fireworks displays.

The festival runs from 4 pm to 10 pm, featuring a funfair, kids zone, and award-winning fireworks displays for both children and adults.

Early bird tickets are available until Monday, September, 30. Adult tickets are £15, children (5-15) £10, and under 5s go free. Family tickets (2 adults, 2 children) are £45. Purchase tickets online from the Leicester Racecourse website or by calling 0116 271 6515.

Leicester Fireworks Festival - Friday, November 8

The Whetstone Juniors Football Club will host the Leicester Fireworks Festival on Friday, November 8, offering a night of dazzling displays from 5 pm to 9:30 pm. Tickets start from £9.92.

Family tickets (2 adults, 2 children) are available for £27.80, while individual tickets are priced at £12.08 for adults and £9.92 for children. Tickets can be purchased online from the Whetstone Juniors FC website. Early bird discounts are available until Tuesday, October 15.
