Bookies Slash Odds On War and Peace Star For Next James Bond

The BBC’s lavish adaptation of ‘War and Peace’ could have given us our first look at the next actor to play James Bond, as bookies have frantically slashed the betting odds of one of its stars being the next 007.

Actor James Norton, who plays Prince Andrei Bolkonsky in the Russian drama, is now one of the favourites to take over from Daniel Craig after Paddy Power cut the odds on the 30-year-old from being a rank outsider to 18/1.

Norton can also be seen in ‘Happy Valley’ and ‘Grantchester’ where he’s won over legions of adoring fans, and he was suitably brooding in ‘War and Peace’, so we think he’d make a decent Bond should EON be interested.

‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ star Tom Hardy is currently the favourite to take over from Craig when he retires from the role with odds of 6/5, while ‘Wolf Hall’s Damien Lewis is not far behind on 7/4.

Our money’s still on Aidan Turner taking over the iconic role though after impressing fans with his abs… we mean acting talents… on ‘Poldark’.

Daniel Craig is rumoured to have at least one more James Bond film left on his contract, but after the release of ‘SPECTRE’ he hinted that his tenure as 007 may already be over telling Time Out, half-jokingly “I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists. No, not at the moment. Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on.”
