Booster Gold & Blue Beetle Movie In The Works?
It’s the superhero movie you never thought would happen – ‘Booster Gold & Blue Beetle’ is apparently being developed by Warner Bros.
According to The Tracking Board, these slightly off-beat DC superheroes will be heading to the big screen… in a buddy-cop-style outing.
“Booster Gold and Blue Beetle, two DC Comics superheros that have long been rumored to appear in either an upcoming film or TV show, are now being groomed for a team-up feature from Warner Bros.”

But who will direct the ‘Booster Gold’ movie? None other than Greg Berlanti…
“Sources exclusive to The Tracking Board can now confirm that Greg Berlanti, the force behind the successful DC comics TV series Arrow and The Flash, will be heavily involved with this one, set to direct and executive produce. Sarah Schechter will also executive produce, while Julia Spiro will oversee for the studio.”
Of course, DC fans will no doubt be familiar with Booster Gold and his pal, Blue Beetle.
A time-travelling college football star from the 25th century, Booster Gold uses his advanced technology and knowledge of the past in order to stage high-profile heroics… and becomes a bit of a showboat amongst DC superheroes. But while he might initially seem more style over substance, Booster Gold eventually steps up to become a real hero and even joins the Justice League alongside the likes of Batman and Superman.
Meanwhile, geeky tech-genius Ted Kord is forced to turn to his college professor for help when it transpires that his uncle – owner of a large tech company – is planning to take over the world with a range of androids. It turns out that his professor is none other than the original Blue Beetle… but when he dies in the ensuing battle, he passes the mantle onto his student. With no superpowers to speak of, Ted Kord uses his genius intellect and an array of gadgetry to continue fighting crime in the name of Blue Beetle.
How will these off-beat heroes fit into DC’s big screen universe?
Now, that’s the million dollar question…
“In a massively different approach from Warner’s current slate, the film will team the two heroes together in what’s being pitched as a superhero buddy cop movie,” they explain. “The dynamic duo are also members of the Justice League and are being planted now to appear in a future JL movie down the road.”
Apparently, comedy is the key when it comes to approaching this new superhero partnership… and that’s a rather huge contrast to other Warner Bros. superhero movies such as ‘Man of Steel’ and ‘Batman V Superman’.
It almost seems as though they’re trying to replicate the off-beat success of Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man’ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’. But can Booster Gold and the Blue Beetle really fit into the DC big screen universe?
For now, we’ll have to wait and see.
