Borat: Sacha Baron Cohen impersonates Kazakhstan government on Twitter to praise Trump’s debate performance

Sacha Baron Cohen has teased the release of the Borat sequel with a video pretending to praise Donald Trump.

Just hours after it was announced that the follow-up to 2006’s Borat would be released on Amazon Prime Video in November, a fake Twitter account imitating the Kazakhstan government shared a new video containing Baron Cohen’s voice.

The clip, which was shared before Tuesday night’s presidential debate between Trump and Joe Biden, included a disclaimer reading: “This ad may contain false statements".

Describing Trump as the “strongest premier in history”, Baron Cohen claims that Trump can’t be racist because “black guys love him so much they kneel before him”.

“Trump never had stroke. He protector of women. He hero of war,” the video sarcastically continued. “Biden’s breath so bad, he forced to wear a mask. Because of Trump, 350 million Americans still alive. Vote for premier Trump, or you will be crushed.”

The video was shared on Twitter, with the caption reading: “Congratulation to great friend of the Kazakh people @realDonaldTrump for winning debate today! Impressive and amazing result for a strong premier who always put America and Kazakhstan first.”

British comedian Baron Cohen is a vocal opponent of Trump and has mocked a number of his supporters and political allies on his show Who Is America?.

The new Borat film was shot in secret during the pandemic, and saw the character have encounters with former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani and attendees at a far-right rally in Olympia, Washington.

The sequel is reportedly titled Borat: Gift of Pornographic Monkey to Vice Premiere Mikhael Pence to Make Benefit Recently Diminished Nation of Kazakhstan.

It will be released on Amazon Prime Video on 2 November, the day before the US presidential election.
