Boris Johnson branded a 'pillock' during on-air clash with Labour MP Andrew Gwynne

Boris Johnson was branded a “pillock” on live TV during a clash with Labour MP Andrew Gwynne that saw the Foreign Secretary appearing to shove his rival.

Andrew Gwynne had gate-crashed an interview Mr Johnson was giving on Sky News ahead of leaders’ BBC Question Time on Friday, saying: “Why wouldn’t you go head to head with me today, Boris?”

Mr Johnson replied: “I’m being heckled by some Labour MP whose name … Andrew Gwynne.

“If he wants to come and join me, come on then you big girl’s blouse, come on then.”

The pair then began to argue over policies with Sky News presenter Dermot Murnaghan trying to interject, saying: “It’s getting a little bit chaotic”.

The row culminated in Mr Johnson appearing to push Mr Gwynne towards the microphone, then saying: “I’m so sorry, go on”, prompting the Labour MP to respond: “Don’t be a pillock.”

The row isn’t the first time the pair have clashed, with a similar spat taking place on Monday evening before the Sky News leaders’ event.
