How many ministers in Boris Johnson's new Government have people actually heard of?

Boris Johnson has chosen his Cabinet, with a brutal cull to make way for Brexiteers in the top jobs.

But how many of the new PM’s ministers have people actually heard of, and how popular are they.

Of the ministers with the top jobs, Chancellor Sajid Javid is the most popular Conservative politician, rated 10th according to YouGov’s ratings.

Nearly three quarters (73%) of people have heard of him, making him the 14th most famous, according to the ratings.

At the other end of the scale is Brexit Secretary Steve Barclay, of whom just a quarter of people (26%) have heard of, while just 28% of people have heard of Environment Secretary Theresa Villiers, who is the 64th most popular Conservative politician.

Only slightly more, 29% have heard of Education Secretary Gavin Williamson, the 47th most popular Conservative politician and 46th most famous.

Unsurprisingly, 85% of people have heard of Michael Gove - appointed as Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster - and he is rated as the 20th most popular Conservative politician and 9th most famous.

Three quarters of people have heard of Amber Rudd, who is 14th most popular Tory politician and 12th most famous, while 59% have heard of Home Secretary Priti Patel, 51% have heard of Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab and 57% have heard of Business Secretary Andrea Leadsom.

Less well known is Health Secretary Matt Hancock, of whom 31% of people have heard of, while 38% have heard of Attorney General Geoffrey Cox and 34% have heard of International Trade Secretary.
