Carrie Symonds has announced that she and Prime Minister Boris Johnson are engaged and expecting their first child together.

Symonds shared the news in a post on her private Instagram account yesterday.

Underneath a photo of Boris giving her a kiss on the cheek, she wrote: "I wouldn't normally post this kind of thing on here but I wanted my friends to find out from me...”

“Many of you already know but for my friends that still don't, we got engaged at the end of last year... and we've got a baby hatching early summer.”

Ms Symonds added she feels “incredibly blessed”.

The news comes just one week after the Prime Minister, 55, agreed to a divorce settlement with his ex-wife, Marina Wheeler with whom her has four children with. The couple separated in 2018 after marrying in 1993.

Symonds, who is 31 years old, will be Johnson's third wife as the PM was also married to Allegra Mostyn Owen for six years from 1987 to 1993.

Symonds, who used to work for the Conservative party but is now a senior advisor for the Bloomberg Foundation, was first romantically linked to BoJo back in 2018. When Johnson became Prime Minister in July 2019, he and Symonds made history as the first ever non-married couple to move into No 10 Downing Street.

According to The Guardian, a spokesperson for the couple confirmed the news, saying they are "very pleased" to make the announcement.
