Boris Johnson’s holiday may have been cut short by security concerns but the prime minister did manage to enjoy the sunshine on his break, new pictures show.

The prime minister’s fiancée, Carrie Symonds, released photographs of their trip on Scotland’s west coast yesterday.

They show the Conservative leader carrying his young son Wilfred in a sling.

Ms Symonds is also seen embracing the couple’s Jack Russell cross, Dilyn.

They had hired a house on Scotland’s Applecross peninsula for a week-long holiday.

But the trip was abandoned a day early after photographers uncovered the hideaway last week and snaps were printed on Thursday.

Ian Blackford, the Scottish National Party leader in Westminster and the local MP, has furiously denied allegations circulating in Westminster that he was the source of the leak.

Today he accused Downing Street of “classic deflection” over the claims.

He added: “It ill beholds number 10 to behave in this way”.
