New boss for organisation that aims to raise the profile of Coventry at home and abroad

The organisation tasked with boosting the profile of Coventry - both nationally and internationally- has appointed a new managing director. Paul McMahon has taken the role at Destination Coventry having previously been the chief executive officer of easyMarketing.

He will now be responsible for taking the lead on the organisation's new business development strategy, which aims to grow the number of visitors to the city. Originally from the West Midlands, Paul's first visit to Coventry was in 1982 to see a visit from Pope John Paul II.

He said: "The aim is to showcase the rich and diverse culture we have in the area, enhancing the national and international profile of Coventry and Warwickshire for both leisure and business tourism. I know the area well and it has an incredible amount to offer to visitors.

It has two brands - Visit Coventry and Conference Coventry and Warwickshire. Among other organisations Paul will work with will be Shakespeare’s England and West Midlands Growth Company.
