People in Newcastle are being given the chance to win hundreds of pounds' worth of free food and drink at one of the city's most popular bars this week.

The Botanist is offering two prizes to customers, with a £100 voucher and a £250 voucher up for grabs to try out its new summer menu - but there's a catch. The vouchers will be on plant pots that will be hidden somewhere in the city centre this Thursday, June 6, from 10am, so anyone hoping to snap them up will have to be quick when the treasure hunt begins.

As well as getting their very own The Botanist plant to keep, the two lucky winners will be instructed via the winning plant pot to confirm their prize by email with a unique code, and the monetary vouchers will be sent directly to them in return. Hunters are encouraged to keep an eye on The Botanist's Instagram page from 9am on Thursday for clues as to where to find the plant pots.

The award-winning bar and restaurant boasts sharing plates, lighter dishes and fresh botanical cocktails on its summer menu, which launched last month. Diners in Newcastle can tuck into classics from burgers to fish and chips, as well as sharing plates of baked camembert, mezze or crispy aromatic duck, a range of tapas-style dishes, and of course the venue's famous hanging kebabs.

Refreshing summer cocktails on the menu include the Rhubarb Bloom Spritz, the Garden Spritz and the Rose Spritz, alongside a selection of botanical twists on classics, signature drinks, beer and wine, and non-alcoholic options too. And if you're not too full after all of that, the mouth-watering dessert menu includes the likes of cookie dough, banoffee sundae, and vanilla raspberry cheesecake.

The Newcastle venue also has a special Sunday Roast menu with roast rump of beef, honey glazed pork belly, roast chicken, or celeriac and mushroom wellington to choose from, alongside the iconic hanging kebabs. And there's a separate kids menu too, featuring mini kebabs, fish bites and sausage and mash alongside a selection of desserts for little ones.
