Bottled water handed to homes out as burst water main issues continue
Bottled water is being handed out to a number of homes due to ongoing water issues. People across the TN16 and TN14 postcodes are experiencing low or no water pressure following a burst water main on Wednesday (November 27).
Thames Water have located the affected section of pipe and are carrying out tests to pinpoint the exact location of the leak. Once this is done, repair teams will start work to fix the issue. However, the location of the pipework and size of the area, means it has been difficult to locate.
There are tankers in the Biggin Hill near Tatsfield in Surrey and Knockholt in Kent to help support the network. The water company has also re-routed parts of its network to restore customer supplies, meaning water has returned to some houses overnight.

For affected households a bottled water station re-opened this morning for customer use. The site is based at Waitrose & Partners, Main Road TN16 3BB. Thames Water has also delivered bottled water to some customers who require extra support, and we are continuing deliveries on Friday Morning. Those that require extra help can sign up to the priority service list here.
The company’s work has brought supplies back to some customers overnight, but pressure may drop during peak times. Staff at Thames Water say they are doing everything they can but the complicated nature of the repair means it is taking longer than normal.
A Thames Water spokesperson said: “We’re very sorry to our customers who are experiencing low water pressure or no water in the Biggin Hill area (TN14 and TN16) due to a burst water main which occurred in the afternoon of Wednesday 27 November. Our teams are on site, but due to accessibility and safety concerns surrounding its location, it is taking us longer to repair the leak than normal.
“We have tankers in the area and have re-routed parts of the water network to keep taps flowing and bring as many customers as possible back into supply. In the meantime, we have set up a bottled water station at the Waitrose on Main Road and continue to deliver bottled water to vulnerable customers on our Priority Services Register. Customers can find the latest updates on our website.”
