Bournemouth's David Brooks included in Wales squad for first time since cancer treatment

Bournemouth footballer David Brooks has been included in the Wales squad for the first time since undergoing cancer treatment.

Wales manager Rob Page has announced his 25-man squad for the Euro qualifiers against Armenia and Turkey in June.

Brooks has been selected for the first time since he was diagnosed with stage two Hodgkin lymphoma in October 2021.

Luton captain Tom Lockyer has not been included in the squad after he collapsed on the pitch at the start of the club's Championship play-off final against Coventry.

Ben Davies and Brennan Johnson also return after they missed the March qualifiers due to injury.

Defender Joe Low, who is currently on loan at League Two side Walsall from Championship team Bristol City, has received his first call-up to the senior squad.

Morgan Fox, Luke Harris and Liam Cullen are the other three uncapped players included.

Wales will be hoping to build on their results in March after coming away with a draw against World Cup semi-finalists Croatia in Split and a 1-0 victory over Latvia at the Cardiff City Stadium.

At the beginning of May, Brooks issued an update and confirmed he had completed his treatment and was "cancer free".

"I am so excited to start the journey back to full fitness and continuing my football career," he added.

"I am determined to work my hardest over the months ahead and I can't wait to be back out there and playing in front of you on the pitch in the not so distant future."

Rob Page's side are currently second in group D, ahead of Turkey and Latvia.
