A mum has made an emotional plea after a beloved item belonging to her son disappeared after he attended an LFC match. Luca Higgins, 12, from Childwall, went to his first Liverpool FC game in 2019 and quickly fell in love with the club.

Luca, who plays for Prescot Cables, regularly goes to games with his mum Louise and dad Paul. Speaking to the ECHO, Louise said: “I work for Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital.

“One of the doctors there at the time was also LFC’s cardiologist and he got him a ticket. He got to sit in Jurgen Klopp’s seat." Laughing, she added: "He probably thought he could sit there for every game.

Luca grew fond of a purple Liverpool scarf and began attaching match badges of every game to it. Louise said: “One of his first badges was given to him by Mighty Red, the LFC mascot.

“He’s been collecting ever since then. He’s got all the Wembley badges from the four finals he’s been to. He takes it everywhere with him. He’s a left back and Andy Robertson is his favourite player. He watches him and tries to copy him.”

Lucas was even wearing it when he was interviewed on Liverpool fan channel The Kop TV after Liverpool beat Newcastle in August 2022 and has met former LFC players wearing it including Jan Molby and Jason McAteer.

However, Luca has lost his scarf while at Anfield earlier with his mum this week and hasn’t been able to find it since. Louise said: “He went to the West Ham cup game on Wednesday. It's quite heavy because of all the badges he’s got on it so he’s put it under his seat.

“He’s left the game without realising he hasn’t got it on. He’s realised when he’s on the concourse, rushed back and it’s gone. We asked the stewards, we were in the Paisley Lounge and asked in there, and nobody’s seen it.”

Luca and Louise sat in the Kenny Dalglish Stand in CE6 on row four, seat 144. However, despite Louise’s post on X/Twitter about the situation garnering thousands of reports and over 1m views, the scarf is yet to be found.

Louise still has some hope the scarf will be found when they visit Anfield again for the reds’ Champions League fixture against Bologna next Wednesday. She said: “Hopefully, fingers crossed.

“He’d be made up to get it back. With all the memories attached to it, he’ll be absolutely ecstatic. Most people have been so nice on social media. He’s a young fan, it would show him we’re all like one big family.

“I didn't think it would go this viral to be honest. I was thinking maybe some people would retweet it. But loads of people have been in touch, offering badges for the different matches, but it's hard to remember every game he’s been to. An old guy who’s also been collecting badges has said he’ll give his to Luca if it’s not found.”

If anyone has the scarf, Louise has pleaded with them to return it. She said: “I’m more gutted than Luca. He probably doesn’t realise it’s something that he could pass on to his sons and grandsons when the time comes.

“It’s worthless to whoever has it, maybe a couple of hundred pounds worth of badges. But to him, it’s everything. It’s his whole experience of supporting Liverpool.” Louise can be contacted on X/Twitter via the handle @LouiseH82447390.
