British boy dies on family holiday after plunging from a sixth floor window

A British teenager has died after plunging from the 6th floor of an apartment block in the holiday town of Fuengirola in Costa Del Sol.

The 13-year-old boy, who has not been named, was reportedly with his mother when he fell from a terrace onto an internal patio at around 1.30pm local time on Tuesday afternoon.

Paramedics tried to revive him at the scene, on Alberto Morgenstern street, but were unable to save his life.

“We are offering support to the family of a British child who has died in Fuengirola,” said a Foreign Office spokesman.

“Our thoughts are with them at this very difficult time and Foreign Office staff are in contact with the Spanish police.”

Local reports said that the people who alerted authorities thought it was an accidental fall but investigators are understood to be treating it as a possible suicide.

It is understood that he was on holiday with his family.

A routine investigation is now under way.
