Boy, 13, found dead in Doncaster shed fire

The body of a teenage boy has been found inside a burnt out garden shed in a village near Doncaster.

He has been named as 13-year-old Jack Sheldon, according to Sky sources.

South Yorkshire Police said the emergency services were called to Byron Avenue in Campsall at around 9pm on Thursday following reports of a fire.

The body was found after the flames had been put out.

The force said in a statement: "While formal identification is yet to take place, it is believed to be that of a 13-year-old boy.

"A joint investigation between South Yorkshire Police and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service is continuing this morning."

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said it had sent two fire engines to what it called "this tragic incident".

It later tweeted: "Investigation into cause of the tragic fire in Campsall is now underway but will not conclude until tomorrow at the earliest."

Simon Dunker, from the service, said the investigation was "a slow process" that would "cover every avenue".

Mr Dunker added: "South Yorkshire Police are working extremely closely with the family.

"We would like to express our condolences."

The scene has been cordoned off and flowers laid nearby.

One tribute said: "We are all thinking of you, there are no words that can be spoken."

Former leader of the Labour Party Ed Miliband, who is MP for Doncaster North, tweeted: "Very saddened by the news from Campsall about the death of a young boy. All my thoughts with his family."
